Mayor Returned by Mysterious Abductor

Mayor Sophista Savira was returned to the streets of Erie late Sunday, July 17th, apparently unharmed after an end to her lengthy imprisonment was negotiated by newly appointed deput mayor Lamia bint Belus Abaza. Sources close to the mayor state that the mayor was detained aboard what can only be described as a large airship supposedly belonging to Darwin - the masked madman responsible for the abduction of several other Erie citizens.

Upon her return, the mayor seemed tired, but otherwise functional, quiping to Abaza that she had "never felt better."

The mayor's return follows several days of institutional and civic chaos on the island, including a struggle for power by the mayor's now-former assistant Mako Guardian, as well as armed battles in the streets between the mysterious Darwin and several citizens.

Those not directly involved in the events were initially shocked to hear of the mayor's abduction shortly following the announcement over KSOS late Wednesday night. Alexandria, the mayor's sister, seemed at first inconsolable, then outraged by the news, stating, "I'm in shock. I can't fathom anyone wanting to kidnap my sister. She's done nothing but good for this town," then quickly adding, "[I] mean business and get what [I] want. [I] want [my] sister back and will kill whoever we have to."

Several of Erie's newest residents expressed outrage with both Darwin and the Brigade, whose somewhat insular nature and seemingly single-minded pursuit of their own nebulous agenda resulted in a complete failure to prevent the abduction of the mayor as well as several other Erie residents. Rev Olivier, a new Erie resident, seemed particularly aghast, stating, "I think the mayor being kidnapped is terrible, but I don't see any of the police out searching or investigating." Teotl, another new resident, noted that, "the law here seems terribly inept, one accidentally stabbed me trying to attack someone else."

Following her return, the mayor would not take any questions and simply provided the Seer with a brief statement: "The man known as Darwin released me after an extended stay in his airship. Although my initial assessment of his motives was sinister in nature, I now feel that perhaps his work is simply misunderstood. It was a less than pleasant experience, I must say, but I am stronger for having endured it."

Sources in the mayor's administration seem puzzled by her apparent acceptance of both her abduction and her abductor. According to one well-placed individual close to the mayor, she has grown distant and secretive over the past week, and appears to be hiding what they describe as "snake-like markings."

As for an explanatioin for the mayor's semminly uncharacteristic description of her captor and his motives, Abaza had this to offer: "Erie is weighed down, held back...if things continue as they are, we are on a horrifying slippery slope descent into madness. It takes people willing to .... do what may be considered dangerous or unpopular to bring the change that Erie needs to recapture her former glory."

SEER Brief - Bloodspattered Bride Found

After a lengthy investigation, the bloodspattered bride has been found. The woman whose face was plastered on every wall inside the Erie town limits, was confronted on this night of July 7 at Muircastle Mansion by Brigade officials. During the confrontation, the bride mumbled incessantly about a groom, whose identity is yet to be uncovered.

The scene escalated as the bride threatened to throw herself from the cliff just behind the Muircastle mansion. Brigade officials were able to successfully bring her to safety, transporting her to the local hospital. Fortunately, neither Brigade nor Trust members were harmed in the apprehension of the bride. No statements have been made by either group. Sources suggest that she suffers from a severe case of schizophreni, a split personality disorder. Her actions are being carefully monitored by the finest medical physicians available to Erie. News of this story will be made as information is released.

SEER Brief - New Evidence May Indicate "Feral Attacks" Were Compensated

By Oliver Stormcrow

After a heated meeting with the Mayor, this reporter is now more than certain the information given to him by sources close to the SEER is based in truth. These sources revealed a nefarious plot instigated by the mayor, implicating the feral attacks preceding and following the alleged protest at the Mayor's Office were part of a pre-arranged and well compensated agreement between her office and a group of for-hire mercenary forces.

The purpose of these attacks was to instigate fear and support for the leash law by frightened and angry citizens. A few brave souls involved in this heinous subterfuge have come forward seeking a place to represent the truth. The SEER is dedicated to finding that truth and exposing it.

A full transcript of the interview with the mayor is available here: http://wiki.erie-isle.com/Roleplay+Events

If anyone has any further information about this alleged event, please contact Oliver Stormcrow, Blitz Salamander or Castor Renfort at the SEER offices. Yannena Homewood, SEER Editor.

"Free-roaming wolf attack" not what it seems?

The man who claims to have been attacked by a free-roaming wolf may have incited the alleged attack, according to onlookers.

Mr Van Reinard drove his motorcycle into a crowd of people and animals and one retaliated, say witnesses.

His 'attack' prompted mayor sophista Savira to issue an emergency decree that all unleashed animals be rounded up and precious city funds be redirected toward building a pound.

Townspeople have rallied against the decree for several days.

Montgomery Market New Trust Guardian

At the Muircastle Trust Charity Ball, held at the Old Erie Hotel last week in the absence of its proprieter Graine Windlow, the Trust's new second-in-command Mr Market announced both his ascention in the charity's ranks and his intention to support the homeless cause within the town.

"I am pleased to announce that as long as I am present the trust will continue to expand charitable operations across Erie, not that I will do this feat alone, but with the aid of fellow trust members, and hopefully the cooperation of the community," he said.
